Croissant de Lune 10 Year Anniversary
2017 marked the tenth anniversary of Sophie’s signature single earring, the Croissant de Lune. Over the years, the Croissant has evolved with a number of variations, but the original remains the same: a line of diamonds that curve along the lobe of the ear. The piece goes to the heart of Sophie’s finding new ways of wearing jewellery.
“I always wear the Croissant de Lune. I designed it when I wanted to make some diamond earrings for myself. One day I laid diamonds in a line so they followed the natural curve of the ear. For me, the Croissant is about the beauty of the diamonds. The design is intentionally clean and simple so the diamonds can stand alone ”
Sophie Bille Brahe Flower Shop
“In Denmark I grew up with the writer Karen Blixen’s literature, but it wasn’t until recently that I learnt of her connection to flowers. She created these huge avant-garde displays, using wild flowers and cabbage leaves.”
A pop-up flower shop in central Copenhagen celebrated the launch of the Ambience de Pellegrina collection, which took inspiration from the flower obsession of the late Danish author Karen Blixen. In collaboration with the stylist Emelie Johansson, wild flowers handpicked in the Danish countryside were sold alongside the Spring 18 collection and signature Sophie Bille Brahe pieces.
Still Life Series by Victoria Hely-Hutchinson & Julia Wagner
Photographer Victoria Hely-Hutchinson and set designer Julia Wagner created a portfolio of still life images for the Copenhagen magazine Space featuring signature Sophie Bille Brahe jewellery. The pair photographed the pieces against a backdrop of crumpled clothing, contrasting the precious quality of the materials – gold, pearls and diamonds – with everyday fabrics, soft worn denim and chambray cotton. The project speaks to Sophie’s belief that jewellery should be worn everywhere and anywhere – not kept locked away out of sight for special occasions.
sacaisophiebillebrahe was launched in Spring 2016; a collection of fine jewellery in collaboration with the Japanese brand Sacai.
The collection was based on the classic styles Elipse and Croissant de Lune, both which were part of Chitose Abe's personal collection of jewellery, and were developed to marry with the fluidity and movement found in Sacai's designs.
New York Project by Ana Kras
Ana Kraš, the Serbian-born New York-based furniture designer, painter, photographer and all-round renaissance woman was commissioned to create a portfolio of photographs featuring the Summer ’17 collection. The result was an intimate series, personal and real, reflecting Ana's independent vision and spirit of freedom.
